Director of Operations
Marina has academic background in Environmental Engineering at the National Polytechnic Institute, Advanced Studies in Sustainable Development and Environment at El Colegio de México, (LEAD-COLMEX), a postgraduate degree in Environmental and Ecological Economics at National Autonomous University of Mexico and is a Specialist in Public Policies for Environmental and Energy Management by the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences, (FLACSO). Marina has more than 18 years of professional experience, leading sustainability, climate change and energy projects mainly in the private sector, international development agencies and government institutions.
At the beginning of her professional career, Marina worked with the CEMEX Sustainability team for more than 9 years. She collaborated with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) for two years in Geneva, Switzerland, where she managed to develop the bases for the implementation of the Mexican GHG Program, in synergy with SEMARNAT and the World Resources Institute (WRI). In the field of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction projects, she has participated in more than 80 monitoring, reporting, validation and verification projects under different policy instruments and initiatives located in Latin America, China, Pakistan and Mozambique.
She has collaborated as a consultant with various companies in the automotive, cement, food and chemical sectors, as well as with NGOs and development agencies such as GIZ, Mexico Climate Initiative (ICM), Mexican Civil Council for Sustainable Forestry (CCMSS), Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), as well as with government institutions such as SEMARNAT, State Government of Baja California Sur, among others.
Marina is currently the Director of Operations of the consulting firm SustainLuum, which has as its core business the design of sustainability strategies, based on the pillars of circular economy, climate change, energy management, social innovation, redefinition of value, resilient cities. and transparency and accountability. Some of the companies with which they have collaborated are: Citibanamex, Daimler, SANOH, ALSEA, CEMEX, JLL, Schneider, Famosa, Crown Packing, USI International, TUV Rheinland and CANACEM, among others.
